Let’s Talk About Sex Educational Series

The ‘Let’s Talk About Sex’ Educational Series, hosted by Abundance Health, LLC in partnership with Gilead Sciences, is a groundbreaking community program created to address rising HIV and STI rates in our region. This interactive series offers a safe, stigma‑free space for youth, adults, and families to learn about HIV/STI awareness, prevention, testing, and healthy relationships. With guidance from healthcare experts and community partners, participants receive clear, culturally responsive information and are connected to on‑site or follow‑up testing and resources. Our goal is to break the silence, empower honest conversations, and equip our community with the knowledge needed to protect their health and one another.

Purpose and focus

The series is designed to break the silence and stigma around sexual health by creating a safe, honest space for youth, adults, and families to learn together. Sessions focus on HIV and STI awareness, prevention strategies, testing options (including PrEP/PEP education), and practical tools for safer sex and healthy relationships.

How it runs

Events are structured as interactive classes or forums that blend expert teaching with open Q&A, often including a nurse practitioner and community partners, so participants can ask real questions in real time. Abundance Health collaborates with Gilead Sciences and other community partners to provide culturally responsive education and connect attendees directly to HIV testing and follow‑up resources.

Impact and future plans

The series was launched in 2025 as a “groundbreaking” educational health initiative specifically designed to address rising HIV rates in King and Pierce Counties. Building on strong turnout and community response, Abundance Health plans to expand future classes to reach both Pierce and King Counties, with additional dates on the horizon.
